Offshore Business Processing (OBP) recently collaborated with La Liga Mariquina Inc. (LM) for a community service activity entitled “Luntiang Marikina: River Clean-Up Activity,” held at Marikina River Parks on August 16, 2025. This green initiative reflects OBP’s ongoing dedication to improving lives by contributing to LM’s mission of maintaining a clean and sustainable environment.
The community organization, founded in 2014, facilitates a monthly clean-up drive with support from residents, student volunteers, and partners. More than preserving a clean and healthy Marikina River with its surrounding areas, the program aims to foster community involvement, raise environmental awareness, and promote sustainable practices.
“I’m not asking everyone to join La Liga. I’m asking everyone to take part in nation-building. We have a responsibility as Filipinos. Let’s take charge,” says Jahn, one of the pioneering founders of La Liga Mariquina. “Our nation needs us now. We must act now.”
The event took place early in the morning and lasted for approximately four hours on a windy day. Food, tools, and supplies were provided, some of which were shared by the volunteers. To ensure everyone stayed safe and accounted for, the OBP Team implemented a buddy system throughout the activity. OBP also took part by signing a commitment pledge, through which donations are directed to support the Luntiang Marikina Program’s initiatives.
“We’re glad that we not only impacted the individuals here today, but also our environment,” says Myles, Employee Engagement Specialist at OBP. She elaborated: “This might be just a specific place in the Philippines, but it is in the Philippines, and we are Filipino citizens,” emphasizing the importance of collective action, beginning with efforts at the local level. “We will bring this experience […] in our daily lives.”
The collaboration was initiated by OBP’s Employee Engagement team, with valuable support from other departments. By working together, we encouraged real community spirit and teamwork among employees.
