Offshore Business Processing (OBP), a global provider of business process operations for the freight forwarding and logistics industry, appoints Calaia Sears as its new Business Development Manager - USA. This strategic hire marks a significant milestone in OBP’s expansion into the American market and reinforces the company’s commitment to delivering scalable back-office solutions to freight forwarders worldwide.

Calaia brings over two decades of hands-on experience with businesses ranging from small and mid-sized companies to enterprise-level freight forwarders. She has handled markets across Asia, Latin America, Oceania, Europe, and the Indian Subcontinent. Her career began in export operations specializing in the cold storage sector. Later, she joined Weiss-Rohlig, the then-unified global freight forwarding firm, where she deepened her expertise in international logistics operations.
Following ten years of exploring the full breadth of the industry, she expanded into transportation technology. She joined a startup reseller of Qualcomm solutions, then a market leader in transportation software. For seven years, she built relationships with trucking companies across the United States, well ahead of the US Government’s mandate for electronic logging devices.
In that capacity, she progressed through roles spanning operations, implementation, account management, and sales. Most recently, she served as an Account Executive at Shipco Transport’s Los Angeles branch, one of the largest global non-vessel operating carriers, where she cultivated relationships with freight forwarders throughout Southern California.
“The opportunity to change the lives of others and businesses across continents and the massive opportunity to launch the OBP brand in the United States motivate me to succeed in this role. It’s truly an honor to be selected and trusted for such a venture!”
— Calaia Sears, OBP Business Development Manager
Calaia is known for the relationships she builds and the integrity and positivity she brings to every engagement. She has always prioritized adding value to her clients’ businesses above all else. Outside of work, she draws inspiration from travel, new experiences, and time with family and friends. This perspective keeps her grounded and forward-moving in everything she does.
In her new role, Calaia will build new business relationships and deepen current industry connections. She will also drive client acquisition, in line with OBP’s mission to empower freight forwarders through dedicated global teams. Her immediate focus is to establish OBP’s presence in the US freight forwarding community and secure partnerships that produce tangible growth for clients and the company.
Calaia believes that as regulatory pressures, geopolitical shifts, and market disruptions continue to reshape the industry, BCOs will grow increasingly reliant on their freight forwarders, and how forwarders respond will define their success. She is confident that the OBP ecosystem provides clients with exactly what they need to scale and grow through that uncertainty, and looks forward to the professional and personal growth this new chapter brings.
“OBP is a global extension of your business, allowing you to add a dedicated in-office team that can work for you anytime you choose. We help clients streamline processes by leveraging global teams and technology, ultimately freeing up time and energy to focus on customer-facing demands, grow your market share, and manage regulatory compliance.”
— Calaia Sears, OBP Business Development Manager
