We attended the First Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Professionals’ Summit as well as the Fifth Year-ender of the National Association of Data Protection Officers of the Philippines (NADPOP) which both transpired on November 23-25, 2022 at the Sheraton Manila Bay Hotel. The summit was organized by the National Association of Data Protection Officers of the Philippines (NADPOP) and the Philippine Computer Emergency Response Team (PH-CERT). The conference featured plenary topics along four thematic areas: Foundational Principles, Regulatory Framework and Guidelines, Best Practices and Trends, and Global Standards.

Any venture’s future success depends on integrating the core concepts of privacy and information security into its operations - protecting data, being transparent about digital behaviors, and honoring user inclinations. We have always been particular about protecting our clients’ and employees’ personal, sensitive information, and also recognize the ongoing rise of unparalleled access and the possible risks to it due to the rapid adoption of digital technology. The summit presented an opportunity to learn more about essential issues such as privacy and security core concepts, legislative framework, data privacy and cybersecurity best practices, and emerging trends.

As the organization strives for higher levels of information security, we seized this opportunity to transcend beyond checklists that view privacy and security as mere means to compliance. We are well aware that the ever-changing landscape of technology means that the data enterprises store is growing, and this calls for data governance. This is an inevitable part of digital transformation, and we are determined to strengthen our Data Privacy and Cybersecurity measures to ensure a safe space not just for our clients but also for our people.
