Christmas is a time of religious and cultural celebration, a time of sharing and a time of giving. The Christmas period is a time of joy, love and hope, where we spend time with our loved ones eating, drinking and having fun. If you are homeless things are very different. Many people are ostracized from their family and friends and spend their life living on the streets, without food or shelter, healthcare or education and with little hope.
OBP has a company culture that is firmly built on respect, equality and fairness for all. We extend these values beyond the confines of the company and out to the community in which we all live. Most often, the neediest and most vulnerable people in our society live on the streets. 24 hours a day, 365 days a year these individuals live with little comfort, often due to unforeseen circumstances and in absolute poverty. We believe that we all have a duty of care to those less fortunate and an opportunity to offer encouragement, support and hope during the festive season.
As part of our continued support for Bahay Tuluyan and the street kids of Manila, OBP is conducting a company fundraising initiative commencing the week of 7/13/2015. All employees will have the opportunity to voluntarily donate 1PHP per day towards our Piso sa Pasko (Peso for Christmas) fundraiser. Piso sa Peso will run from 13th July 2015- 11th December 2015.
All money collected will be used to purchase Christmas gifts for the street kids of Manila. A significant portion of the funds will be used to buy Christmas presents for the children who regularly receive support from Bahay Tuluyan. The remainder will be spent on practical Christmas gifts for those children and youth who are isolated, living on the streets and are unable to access support services.
A full update and report will be delivered during the end of year Christmas party celebrations and will be posted on the OBP website.
